Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight: Gadget Bench Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Gadget Benches in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are the upgrade stations where WayneTech Chips — collected from WayneTech Caches across all 17 maps — are spent on gadget and weapon improvements for every playable character.

The critical practical mechanic: chips can be spent at any Gadget Bench in Gotham, not just the one in the Batcave. Knowing where the nearest bench is mid-exploration saves a trip back to base.

All Gadget Bench locations are fully covered on our interactive LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight maps.

LEGO Batman Gadget Bench Locations: All Five Confirmed

  • Wayne Tower (Old Gotham North) — inside the building's starting area, unlocked automatically during the Wayne Tower story mission. The earliest open-world bench encountered after the Batcave.

  • Tricorner (Tricorner) — rooftop of the WayneTech Tricorner Yards building on the west side of the district. The most central open-world bench for players based on Tricorner Island.

  • Gotham Village — Robinson Park (Gotham Village — Robinson Park) — northeast rooftop. Reached by jumping and gliding from the adjacent building to the west; not accessible directly from street level without a glide upgrade.

  • The Batcave (The Batcave) — the primary bench. First encountered on the upper cave floor during the Spelunking mission (smash crates near the iron gate to build it). Moves permanently to the lower level after completing the Chapter One Complete mission.

What the Gadget Bench Upgrades

Every playable character has their own gadget upgrade tree, purchased with WayneTech Chips one at a time.

Upgrades extend gadget range, reduce recharge times, add secondary effects, and unlock new interactions with environmental puzzle elements.

Batman's Batclaw, Batarang, UV Vision, and Explosive Spray each have upgrade branches; Robin's Cable Launcher, Nightwing's Electric Staff, Batgirl's Hackarang, Gordon's Foam Sprayer, and Catwoman's Whip all have separate trees.

Completing all upgrades for a single character unlocks the "Wonderful Toys" achievement.

Gadget Bench vs Skill Brick: Two Upgrade Systems

Gadget Benches handle character-specific tool improvements using WayneTech Chips.

Skill Bricks handle general combat and traversal improvements (combo extenders, glide speed, counter windows) using a separate currency.

Both systems run in parallel — prioritising the Batcave Gadget Bench for chip spending and Skill Bricks for passive ability investment is the fastest path to a fully upgraded roster.
